Commissioned by the Duchy of Cornwall, the new residential development in a sensitive rural location contains 137 homeson a 5.7 hectare site at the edge of Midsomer Norton, Somerset. Terraced houses predominate; all are carefully detailed and constructed using materials that harmonise with the local vernacular. The development is regarded as an exemplar for the design of new rural estates, successfully balancing cost effectiveness with commercial viability and attractive, high quality design. Thicket Mead gives the impression of a place which has gently evolved over time.
