Lakeside Care Home is located in St Peter in rural Jersey. The new care home provides 4,088 sq m (44,000 sq ft) of luxury residential accommodation, whilst offering specialist care and nursing services to elderly, frail and complex dementia residents. The main building provides a total of 60 luxury rooms, with two additional pavilions accommodating eight two-bedroom apartments. These offer independent living but with the support of facilities in the main home when required. The aim of the design was to create a place that people could be proud to live in at a transitional period in their lives. The development accommodates the clinical, operational and functional requirements of the care home within an attractive, classically designed building. The long main façade is set back from the road, allowing for a formal approach under a central porte-cochere. Two stepped pavilions flank the entrance, each with central rooftop lanterns and double-height loggias overlooking the surrounding landscape. The simple palette of materials, including lime stucco and cast stone for dressings and mouldings, is in keeping with the existing traditional buildings of the surrounding area.
