The Georgian Group presented its inaugural Craft Prize awards at Goldsmiths’ Hall on 9th May 2019. Congratulations to our director Hugh Petter who was awarded the Craft Prize by the Carpenters Company. The awards, designed to complement the Group’s long-standing Architectural Awards, recognise and celebrate excellence in those traditional crafts that are supported by the Livery Companies of the City of London and their associated charities.
Commenting on the award, Hugh Petter said, "I am very touched that my work has been acknowledged through this Craft Award and I thank both The Georgian Group and The Worshipful Company of Carpenters for their support. One of the great delights as an architect is to have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with great craftsmen. One is always learning, and the shared pleasure of a design evolved together and beautifully executed lives on long after the project is complete."

There is much to do to bring good students into these creative areas, and these Awards are a significant contribution to that effort."
The awards were presented by the Georgian Group’s President, the Duchess of Argyll, and made to both Apprentices and Masters. The judging panel included Patricia Lovett MBE (Chair, Heritage Crafts Association), Suzanne Galloway (Upper Warden, Glaziers’ Company) and the Georgian Group’s Chairman, Christopher Boyle QC, and Secretary, David Adshead FSA.
