MASTERPLAN FOR PHASE II OF NEWQUAY GROWTH AREA

Phase II of the Newquay Growth Area, a Duchy of Cornwall site, is over eight hectares and located close to Fistral Beach. The design contains two hundred new homes, including affordable housing and work units, creating a dense, mixed use sustainable neighbourhood plus space for 200 jobs. The street plan responds to the sloping site, connecting to the existing town and providing views of the surrounding area. The architecture follows the local vernacular character, as laid out in the Pattern Book and Building Code by ADAM Architecture. Phase II forms part of a significantly large masterplan for the Newquay Growth Area, the conceptual designs for which is by Léon Krier and Colum Mulhern. The Princes Foundation is the co-ordinating masterplan and ADAM Architecture is the Phase Masterplanner.
